Prom Dresses – What to look out for

You probably have a good idea of the sort of prom dress that you want for your prom, but it is always worth thinking about some of the features of a dress and what they can do in order to get that amazing look.

A corset back gives a super fit

Corset Backs

This great feature does so much to enhance the fit and look of a gown that most of our dresses now incorporate it.  We all have different size backs, even though we might be the same size.  The corset can be adjusted to allow for the best fit, and ensuring the waist is shown of to its best.

Of course a corset back looks super sexy in its own right and gives that extra 'wow' factor when being viewed from the back.  For those that aren't as keen on showing the back, all our gowns come with a modesty panel which just fits inside of the dress, hides the back but still shows the corset detailing.

'A' Line Prom Dresses

The 'A' Line style is fantastic for creating and showing off the figure.  The eye is drawn from floor level and in toward he waist creating an amazing hour glass figure.  This styles is also suite to the pear shape helping to hide or disguise the hips.  Equally t is the perfect style to go for if you want a fuller dress but don't fancy the large traditional American prom dress.  The skirt can either be plain, ruched or display pick-ups as shown on Eclipse below.

Picture Perfect

Picture Perfect

Whether you are having professional photos taken or just a load of your mates
snapping you on their mobiles these photos will be your lasting memory of THE big
night. Follow our top 10 tips to strike the perfect pose & make sure you look great in
your in every photo!

1 Try and breathe in slightly and keep your shoulders back; practice in front of a
mirror to see what a difference it makes!

2 A-listers know it always best to stand at a slight angle, rather than facing the camera
directly.lrg-42-dsc_1360

3 If you have long hair, don’t have it all hanging down at the front. Take one side of it
back, for a more pleasing line to your shoulders.

4 Make sure you’ve powdered your face: there’s nothing worse that the flash
bouncing off the greasy areas around the forehead and chin.

5 Don’t try too hard. Yes, you want a shot that shows you at your best…but if you’re
normally one to pout or smoulder- this isn’t the time to do it.

6 Think about your best features; don’t focus on the ones you don’t like. If you have fantastic eyes, concentrate on them at the focus of the shot while you’re looking at the camera (not the fact you think you have a big nose!)

7 Instead of keeping your legs completely straight, bend your front knee slightly, and
kick out your hip a little at the other side, which will give you a great silhouette.

8 Get the photographer to stand on a chair- if you’re looking up at the camera you’re
more likely to get a flattering shot.lrg-40-dsc_1353

9 Even if you really hate having your picture taken, just try think positive thoughts.
It’s only a small effort for 30 seconds & will leave you with a great memory to keep
forever!

10 Practice makes perfect, so get together with a couple of friends a week or two in
advance, grab a camera, and click away until you’re getting it right, every time. By
the time it comes to the real thing, striking the perfect pose will be second nature!
